Why choose Biomass?
Eco friendly
Biomass is a carbon neutral alternative to fossil fuels. The CO2 released in the burning of biomass fuels, is recaptured through the process of photosynthesis from the trees planted in place of those used for fuel.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme
The boiler upgrade scheme is a government backed scheme that grants homeowners with £5000 towards the cost of a biomass heating system! Get in touch to find out how to apply.
Lower heating bills
Wood fuel costs less than other alternative fuels, and with rising gas and oil prices the difference in cost is increasing. Compared to an old electric heating system, a wood-fuelled biomass system could provide savings in a domestic property of up to £1350 per year (Energy Savings Trust, 2022).
What is Biomass?
A biomass system is an efficient method of providing heating and hot water using wood fuel. The boiler works on gasification; burning the wood fuel produces hot gases, which pass through a hat exchanger to transfer the heat to the water used in the heating system. Biomass boilers are available in a wide range of sizes and can be fed manually, semi-automatically or fully automatically, meaning they are suited to domestic properties and large commercial or industrial sites alike.
There are three types of wood fuel for biomass boilers: chips, pellets and logs. We are able to offer advice on the most suitable boiler and fuel choice for your property. North Wales Biomass can also recommend local suppliers for your fuel of choice.
